This policy sets out how we decide what to publish on SASSA Status Check Help, how we write it and how we keep it up to date. Our goal is simple: give people dealing with SASSA grants information they can trust and act on.
Who writes and checks our pages
Pages are written and checked by N Chris. Each page shows the date it was last updated. We don’t publish guest posts or paid articles.
What we cover
We cover the SRD R370 grant and other SASSA grants: how to check your status, what each result means, pay dates, amounts, applications, appeals, reviews, changing your details and scams to avoid. We also explain policy news, such as budget decisions and court cases, when it affects grant recipients.
How we write
- Answer first. The main answer comes at the top of each page, followed by the detail.
- Plain English. Short sentences and everyday words, because many readers use a phone and English may be their second or third language.
- Dates and sources. Amounts, pay dates and rule changes come with the date and where we found them.
- Clear next steps. Where something goes wrong, we explain what you can do about it and who to contact.
Sources we rely on
We use SASSA’s own announcements and websites first, then government sources and established South African news outlets. Social media posts and comments help us understand what people are struggling with, but we don’t publish them as fact. The full process is in How we verify information.
What we won’t publish
- Phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers or USSD codes that SASSA hasn’t confirmed, unless we clearly label them as unconfirmed.
- Rumours about new grants, increases or extra payments without an official source.
- Promises that someone can speed up or guarantee a payment.
- Any form that asks for your ID number or bank details.
Keeping pages up to date
We review our main pages at least once a month, and straight away when SASSA, the Department of Social Development or National Treasury announces a change, such as in the February budget or the October mini-budget. When we change a fact, we update the date on the page.
Independence and advertising
The site may earn money from ads. Ads are kept separate from our content, and advertisers can’t pay to change what we write. We don’t accept payment to mention or recommend any product, loan or service.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it as soon as we can and note significant changes on our corrections page. You can report a mistake through the contact page.
