SASSA Payment Dates 2026/27 for All Grants

SASSA pays the permanent grants in the first days of each month: Older Persons first, then Disability, then Children’s grants. For November 2026, SASSA moved the dates earlier because of the local government elections: 30 October, 2 November and 3 November. December 2026 payments start on 2 December. The SRD R370 grant is paid separately later in the month.

SASSA payment dates for November 2026

SASSA brought November’s payments forward so that grant collection wouldn’t clash with the local government elections. Older persons are paid on Friday 30 October, disability grants on Monday 2 November and children’s grants on Tuesday 3 November. Grants under review follow on Thursday 5 November. SASSA spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi said the change would keep payments running “with minimal disruption” during the election period, as reported by EWN.

If you’re paid on 30 October, that money is your November grant. There won’t be another older persons payment in early November.

Children’s grants include the Child Support Grant, Foster Child Grant and Care Dependency Grant. SASSA can still move a date, for example around elections or public holidays, so check close to the day.

How the payment order works

  • Day 1: Older Persons Grants.
  • Day 2: Disability Grants.
  • Day 3: Children’s grants, such as Child Support, Foster Child and Care Dependency.
  • Day 4: grants flagged for a review or life certificate check.
  • Later in the month: the SRD R370 grant, on rolling dates.

Payments only happen on working days. When the first of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the run starts on the next working day.

What is the fourth payment day?

Since July 2026, SASSA pays some grants one day after the usual three. This is for people flagged for a grant review or eLife certification, and they receive an SMS. If you’re paid on the fourth day, visit your nearest SASSA office to complete the review, or your grant could be suspended the next month (EWN, July 2026).

SRD R370 payment dates

The SRD grant runs on its own schedule. SASSA doesn’t publish one date for everyone. Instead, each approved month gets its own pay date on your status, usually in the second half of the month. Read our full guide to SRD R370 payment dates, including what to do if you’re approved with no pay date.

Do you have to collect your money on pay day?

No. SASSA tells grant recipients not to rush to collect on the first day, because the money stays available in their accounts (EWN, September 2026). Queues and system delays are worst on the first morning, so a day or two later is often easier.

Ways to get your grant

  • Your own bank account: the money is paid in on your pay date and you use it like any other money in your account.
  • Postbank black card: use it at ATMs, or to buy and draw cash at participating stores such as Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Spar.
  • Cash at a store: many supermarkets let you draw cash at the till when you buy something. Check the store’s rules and any fees first.

Postbank and the SASSA gold card in 2026

  • From 1 May 2026, Postbank stopped cash deposits and withdrawals at Post Office counters. Use ATMs, participating retailers or digital banking instead (Sowetan, May 2026).
  • The old SASSA gold cards were replaced by Postbank black cards. The deadline to swap was 31 August 2026, and gold cards were set to stop working after that (SAnews, August 2026).
  • The black card is free. Take your green ID book, smart ID card or temporary ID to a card replacement site, and dial *120*355# to find the nearest one.
  • For card problems, call Postbank on 0800 53 54 55. For grant problems, call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11.

Changing your payment method

To change how you’re paid, SASSA asks you to visit a local office with a valid ID and bank confirmation documents and complete a consent form. Do it before the 19th of the month to avoid delays (EWN, September 2026). SRD recipients can update banking details online, as explained in our guide to updating SRD banking details.

How to check if your grant has been paid

  • Bank account: check your banking app, the SMS from your bank, or your balance at an ATM after your date.
  • Postbank black card: check the balance at an ATM or a till point at a participating store.
  • SRD R370: your status on srd.sassa.gov.za shows each month as approved, pending or declined and gives the pay date. Our SRD status check guide explains each result.
  • Still nothing after two working days: call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 with your ID number.

Your grant didn’t arrive?

  1. Check the date for your grant type in the table above. Older persons, disability and children’s grants are paid on different days.
  2. If you got an SMS about a review, your payment may be on the fourth day, and you may need to visit a SASSA office.
  3. Wait a working day, then check your bank account or card balance again.
  4. Make sure your bank account is still open and in your own name.
  5. If your money still hasn’t arrived, call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 with your ID number.

Stay safe on pay day

  • Never give your card PIN to anyone, including people offering to help at an ATM.
  • SASSA doesn’t charge to pay out grants, and nobody can get you paid earlier for a fee.
  • Ignore WhatsApp posters with “new” SASSA payment dates unless they match an official announcement.

Why SASSA payment dates move, and what comes next

SASSA sets the dates for a whole financial year, from April to March, and then adjusts them when something gets in the way. In 2026 the November dates moved because of the local government elections on 4 November (SAnews, 15 October 2026). Public holidays and weekends can also push a date to the next working day.

The SASSA grant payment dates for April 2027 to March 2028 have not been announced yet. SASSA normally publishes them in March, and we will add them here as soon as they are official. Until then, treat any 2027/28 table on social media as unconfirmed.

Older Persons Grants on 30 October, Disability Grants on 2 November and Children’s grants on 3 November. Grants under review are paid on 5 November.

Older Persons on 2 December, Disability on 3 December and Children’s grants on 4 December.

When is the SRD R370 paid?

On rolling dates later in the month. Your own date shows on your status at srd.sassa.gov.za.

Does my money disappear if I don’t collect it on pay day?

No. The money stays in your account or on your card until you use it.

Are grant pay dates the same every month?

The order stays the same, but the exact days change with weekends, public holidays and events like elections.

When will the SASSA payment dates for April 2027 be announced?

SASSA usually releases the dates for a new financial year in March. Until then, any April 2027 dates you see online are guesses.

Can I get my grant before the payment date?

No. Nobody can get your grant paid earlier, and anyone who asks for a fee to do it is running a scam.

Do grant increases arrive automatically?

Yes. When an increase starts, the new amount is paid on your normal date. You do not need to apply or visit an office.

Do I still need a SASSA gold card?
