SASSA Status Check Help is a private, independent information website. It is not owned by, linked to or approved by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), the Department of Social Development or any other part of the South African government.
We can’t do anything on your application
We have no access to SASSA’s systems. We can’t check your status for you, approve or speed up a grant, change your banking details or cellphone number, lodge an appeal or tell you why a month was declined. Only SASSA can do these things.
Information can change
Grant amounts, pay dates and rules change, sometimes at short notice. We update our pages when SASSA or the government announces a change, and we show the date of each update, but we can’t promise every detail is current at the moment you read it. Before you act on anything important, confirm it with SASSA.
Not legal or financial advice
Our guides explain how the grant system works in general. They aren’t legal, financial or professional advice for your situation. If you need advice about an appeal, a debt or a legal problem, speak to SASSA, a legal aid office or another qualified adviser.
We never ask for sensitive details
This site doesn’t collect ID numbers, PINs, OTPs, bank account numbers or SASSA reference numbers, and it never will. If a website, WhatsApp number or Facebook page that uses our name asks you for any of these, it isn’t us. Don’t reply, and report it to SASSA.
How to spot a fake SASSA page
- The web address doesn’t end in sassa.gov.za but still asks you to log in or “check your status”.
- It asks for a fee to process, approve or speed up your grant.
- It asks for your bank PIN, card PIN or a one-time PIN (OTP).
- Someone contacts you first on WhatsApp, Facebook or by phone and says they work for SASSA.
