Official SASSA Websites: srd.sassa.gov.za and More

The official SRD website is srd.sassa.gov.za. It’s where you apply for the R370 grant, check your status, lodge an appeal and update your details. SASSA’s main website is www.sassa.gov.za, and permanent grants and life certification use services.sassa.gov.za. Every real SASSA address ends in .gov.za, never .co.za or .org.za.

What you can do on srd.sassa.gov.za

In 2025, the Department of Social Development described the SRD website as “the correct and authentic application platform” for the SRD grant (SAnews, February 2025). These are its main sections:

How to type the SRD website address correctly

Many people search for the SRD site using spellings that don’t work, and a few of those spellings belong to fake sites. Here’s what to type instead:

What people typeThe problem
www.srd@sassa.gov.zaThe @ sign belongs in an email address, not a website address. Browsers can’t open it.
srdsassa.gov.zaThe dot between “srd” and “sassa” is missing.
srd.gov.sassaThe parts are in the wrong order.
rsd sassa gov zaThe letters “srd” are swapped.
www.srd.gov.za“sassa” is missing from the address.
sassa.co.za or srd-sassa.org.zaWrong ending. These are not SASSA.

In every case, the correct address is srd.sassa.gov.za: three parts, separated by dots, ending in .gov.za.

You don’t need to add “www” in front of the SRD address. Type it in the address bar at the top of your browser, not in the Google search box, so you land on the real site and not on an advert.

Is srd@sassa.gov.za an email address?

Yes, in the early days of the grant in 2020, srd@sassa.gov.za was published as an email address for SRD questions (The Citizen, May 2020). It was never a website, which is why typing “www.srd@ sassa.gov.za” into a browser doesn’t work. We couldn’t confirm that this email is still monitored in 2026. For general grant questions, SASSA uses GrantEnquiries@sassa.gov.za and the toll-free line 0800 60 10 11.

The SASSA Services Portal: services.sassa.gov.za

When people search for a “SASSA login”, they usually mean the SASSA Services Portal. It’s a separate website from the SRD website, and it isn’t used for the R370 grant. SASSA launched it in September 2020 so people could apply for some grants online (SAnews, September 2020).

  • Create a profile. You register with an email address to log in. People without email get updates by SMS.
  • Apply online for the Child Support, Older Persons and Foster Child grants. You upload supporting documents, such as your ID and banking details, certified by a Commissioner of Oaths.
  • Do your e-Life certification. Every grant recipient must confirm once a year that they’re still alive and eligible. You can do it online on the portal or at a SASSA office (EWN, April 2026).
  • Update your details, such as your address, banking details or payment method.

If you receive the SRD grant, stay on the SRD website. If you receive an older persons, disability or child grant, the Services Portal is the one you need.

The main SASSA website: www.sassa.gov.za

SASSA’s main website explains every grant, lists offices and contact numbers, publishes news and has downloadable forms. It doesn’t show your personal SRD status. For that, use the SRD website.

Fake SASSA websites to avoid

In February 2025, the Department of Social Development warned Parliament about fake SRD application sites that collect people’s personal information for fraud (SAnews, February 2025). Two of the sites it named were:

  • srd-sassa.org.za
  • srdsassagov.co.za

Both look real at a glance, but neither ends in .gov.za. The department said such sites use “.org and .co.za domain names” (Durban Local). Fake social media posts about the grant are also common. In January 2026, SASSA warned people about a post promising to help recover unpaid grants from shops, saying the information was false (The Mercury, January 2026).

Warning signs of a fake site

  • The address doesn’t end in .gov.za.
  • You reached it from a WhatsApp message, Facebook post or advert, not by typing the address yourself.
  • It asks for a fee, a “registration” payment or your bank card PIN.
  • It asks for your OTP and then asks for more details on a different page.
  • It promises faster approval, back pay or a new grant.
  1. Look at the address bar, not the page design. Fake sites often copy SASSA’s colours and logo.
  2. Read the address from right to left. A real one ends in sassa.gov.za.
  3. Watch for extra words, dashes or missing dots, such as “srd-sassa” or “srdsassagov”.
  4. Don’t rely on the padlock icon. Fake sites can have one too.
  5. If in doubt, close the page and type the SRD address yourself.

What to do if you entered your details on a fake site

  1. Call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 and explain what happened. Ask them to check your application and cellphone number.
  2. If you gave bank details or a PIN, phone your bank’s fraud line straight away and block your card.
  3. Check your SRD status for any change you didn’t make, such as a new bank account or number.
  4. Open a case at your nearest police station if money was taken.
  5. Warn family members who might use the same link.

srd.sassa.gov.za not working?

  • The site is busiest around pay dates. Try early in the morning or late at night.
  • Use a different browser, or clear your browser’s history and cache.
  • Check your data or Wi-Fi connection.
  • If you have no data, use the Moya app or phone SASSA instead.
  • Don’t switch to a different “SASSA” site because the real one is slow. That’s when people get caught by fake sites.

Is this an official SASSA website?

No. SASSA Status Check Help is an independent guide. We don’t have a login, we can’t check your status and we never ask for your ID number. Read our disclaimer to see what we can and can’t do.
